Mrs Marr and Mr Duffy entertain the locals on the Paris Metro... unforgettable!! |
The sweet as life ....
We decided to get away from Dijon early as the prospect of exploring a cold, wet town with bugger all open wasn't enticing. Heading to Paris at a good hour of 10am meant a relaxed 3.5 hour drive to Paris plus an hour at a decent French Service station. The French countryside was vast, green with a smattering of yellow paddocks with rape seed growing in the more seasonal spring warmth compared to when we first arrived in Europe. France is indeed a beautiful country, and not just its capital. Soon enough we were in the suburbs and the centre of Paris. After quickly settling in we went to explore the Champs Elysses district. The time the boys spent was thoroughly enjoyable. Eating crepes (filled with nutella is their favourite), taking photos and buying any tourist trash but always having fun. It was simply a delightful afternoon spent on this side of the world with our boys. A few of the boys chose to go with Mr Duffy and Ms Gorman to evening mass at Notre Dame Cathedral. They thoroughly enjoyed their time in this iconic venue, and equally so the meal afterwards. Steak again, featured on Crag Blackie's list, and most other peoples! We have a full, full day tomorrow exploring Paris with a tour guide. At 2am in the morning Tuesday NZ time our boys will be on top of the Eiffel Tower. Mentioning the end of trip arrangements tonight didn't seem quite right and actually a little sad. Routine and normality will soon be upon us. Right now, however, its almost impossible to accept this fact. |
