7th and last country on tour
We rolled smoothly into Switzerland today with just a brief stop as they are the only country on tour not to be a member of the European Union. It was such a shame the weather did not play its part today as the views would have been far the most spectacular on tour. Still, just like the West Coast back in NZ the sight of cascading waterfalls during heavy rain makes up somewhat for the loss of not seeing the peaks. We stopped at the nicest and best value service station in the world. the food was fresh, top quality and for several of our boys afforded the first opportunity to have a decent steak in quite some time. As someone said it was Australian steak so they had to spit on it first but aside from that it tasted great! The boys tolerate and indeed make the most of the long coach journeys. Whether it be bouts of snoozing or cards or catching up on films, they are good at finding things to do. However, you can always sense the need for times when energy is needed to be released. Thanks to Ray the coach driver who is a great role model for the boys - tolerant too! We arrived in Dijon and settled to a relaxed dinner and evening. The promise of a sleep in tomorrow means that we will not leave for Paris until late morning. Firstly an explore of the old part of Dijon centre. No shops will be open so it will be a great chance for the boys to do some classic sightseeing. Maybe some will reacquaint themselves with the taste of snails!??! |
